Writing Skills Can be Enhanced With These Tips of The Book-Writing Trade.

Tips for Writing Skills

The best writing advice you can get should have everything to do with becoming a better writer. Too often, individuals taking on a self-proclaimed teaching or mentoring position become pedantic (Encarta Dictionary: “Too concerned with formal rules and details: too concerned with what are thought to be correct rules and details, like in language.”) and lose touch with the purpose of writing. Sadly, this “loss” is carried down to the student, and the propagation of poor or average writing ensues on a large scale.

Would anyone ever need mediocrity for their book? Absolutely not, as that is disaster in the making!

We can see it everywhere we look. Most evident is the futile circumstance of the majority of books that come out each year. The staggering statistic of books that fail is nearly 90%.

One has to ask, with so many book buyers eagerly awaiting the next new books to come out, how is it remotely possible so many books could never make it to the light of day? With such an unbalanced and staggering statistic, one can only assume that something is causing this unnatural imbalance. And this leads us right back to the point just being made: POOR, AVERAGE OR MEDIOCRE WRITING!

Story Writing, Writing a Novel, Writing fiction,
Writing Nonfiction, Writing a Memoir

Creativity, imagination, the depth of what writing should be, becomes obscured by concerns of what other people might say if one were to break a grammatical rule by starting a sentence with “and” or “but”, or some other conjunction. But it is exactly such constricting rules, fervently held by only critics (failed writers), that muddies up the creativity and effectiveness of true writing. In other words pure, effective communication is stifled beyond recognition.

This is just one issue among many that is the cause for failed books each and every year.

Here is a very helpful truth that needs to be understood when writing a book:

When Writing a Book

The fact that one’s thoughts and ideas are conveyed effectively is the most important point of all — not a rule. And understand that rules have ALWAYS AND ONLY been meant as a guide for anyone to then proceed from with their own good senses. Robotism does no one any good. In fact it is ineffective and suppressive in its own right. Certainly uncreative.

Critics who would gasp at a breach in the lightest rule — even when it improves the conveyance of a thought or concept MORE EFFECTIVELY should not be given any attention. They should be ignored. They are “critics” because they themselves cannot actually write. After all, would you spend all of your time criticizing about the writings of others if you were able to write? Of course not.

Writing Advice

The writing advice in this article, and others to follow, is about: getting the writing tips that make a big difference in writing a book, learning important and esoteric things, honing the craft of writing, getting little-known writing advice…, to make a good writer great and to make a new writer confident to the point of having command over the written word and book writing in general. One point to take with you today is, don’t worry about what others might say if…. JUST WRITE! AND DON’T WORRY ABOUT “OTHERS.”

And know this, (notice this sentence was started with a conjunction): To write well, exceptionally well … to the point where an author can influence societies, inspire and keep readers turning book pages with enthusiasm, it requires in-depth knowledge of technique, while freeing up the inner creativity, which exists partially or completely obscured until tapped into with an effective approach.

No matter how good we are, there is always room for improvement. Would you agree?

Tips on Writing

This article should logically start out with writing advice on the fundamentals of writing, the basic truths. DON’T mistake this for child’s play or something for beginners! This is the kind of knowledge that makes greatness out of mediocrity.

It is the fundamentals, the simplest essence of a subject that poses the greatest potential for the finest outcome. If more people knew this, their would be more millionaires today. Most individuals have at best a shallow understanding of their career, field or trade.

To know about some activity to the degree of “good enough” or “Yeah, yeah, I’ve got it,” only predisposes oneself to getting into a lot of trouble and strife with that activity at hand.

There is no longer a need or excuse to struggle with an area of life in an ongoing manner. Certainly we all struggle, tooth and claw, with some things. But if each of us would take the perspective that “there is more to know,” this, itself, would be an opened door to improvement!

Next would come the actual attainment of more knowledge and understanding. The better, more accurate and true the information is, and if that information comes across properly for complete duplication, vast improvement occurs. There is the responsibility of offering up data that has been verified as true, or at least you disclose that it hasn’t been checked. There is to supply enough information required by the reader for understanding, and much more that you’ll be learning all about in this series. This applies to those who teach you and YOU as you inform others through your books.

From this first article, you are already learning what is required of a great writer!

But as far as you becoming a better writer, you have to take the time to continually learn more truths about writing, discover more techniques and begin to move away from the “technique” side over to the creative, thoughtful, emotional side. There is actually an ideal balance of the two sides, which produces the best writing.
